letter from the director
Dear Students and Parents:
The new school year 2010-2011 is upon us, and it is going to be an exciting and busy one at St. Joseph’s School of Music. We have two incredible events coming up for our school and community that you will not want to miss. In October, we will make SJSM history by hosting a cellist of international renown, Jeffrey Solow, for a weekend of master classes. Then, in December, our students will have the opportunity to perform at Orchestra Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra on a Target Free Family concert. In 2011, we continue to bring you the Saturday Musicale series, the auditioned Honors Concert, and many of the programs you already know at SJSM. We will be expanding our outreach programming, thanks to a new staff member in the office, Stasia Verdoljak, a St. Joseph worker and Macalester graduate. Stasia will be heading up our Ambassador program, the Musical Story Hour, and outreach concerts to nursing homes, and community venues. (See Stasia’s bio on the faculty bio page for more information about her and the St. Joseph worker program.)
Historically, at SJSM, we have raised tuition every two years. It is that time again, and we have raised the tuition by 6.3%. The majority of this tuition increase goes directly to the faculty, and allows us to continue our commitment to provide the highest quality music instruction. We thank you for your understanding and support, and look forward to serving you and to your joyful engagement with music at SJSM.
The new rates for tuition: Per nine-week term- 30 minute lessons: $215 45 minute lessons: $320 60 minute lessons: $425
Thank you,
Madeline Cieslak Weiss
