We recommend that children ages seven and younger complete First Steps before enrolling in private Suzuki or private traditional lessons.
There are nine private lessons per nine-week term.

A $30 Registration Fee is paid once. Additional family members who enroll pay $20. For new students, lessons begun within a term are pro-rated.
SUZUKI TRACK Flute, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Piano The Suzuki method emphasizes listening, ear training, and the building of memory skills. It is based on the "Mother Tongue Method" of hearing and repeating. One parent attends each lesson, learns with the child, and becomes the home teacher. In the beginning, using the Twinkle Theme as a basis, the student learns the fundamentals of technique, posture, fingering, intonation, ear-training, memory and performance skills.
One parent is recommended to arrange a one-on-one consultation with a Suzuki teacher near the beginning of a child's Suzuki training. Please call the school to make arrangements, the consultation fee is $10. We also have a Suzuki library to offer Suzuki parents, books and DVDs can be checked out for further reference at home.
A Suzuki string student takes 9 private lessons and 6 group lessons each term. See group lesson schedule and information on the String Groups page.
TRADITIONAL TRACK Piano, Voice, Guitar, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon, Percussion In the Traditional Track the child begins to read music immediately. Technique, reading,and interpretation are carefully guided through a variety of books. Theory is an integral part of the lessons, and performance and memory skills are developed through Repertoire Class and a recital at least once a year. Students ages 5 through 7 are advised to begin in preparatory FIRST STEPS classes. Others begin immediately in private lessons.
*Traditional string students can participate in the Suzuki-based Strings Group Classes to develop the skills of ensemble playing, memorization, and sight-reading.
