The Saturday Musicale is a family-friendly concert series, free and open to the public, that provides performance opportunities to students of all ages, levels, and instruments. While student performance is the primary focus, each monthly musicale features one faculty artist.
STUDIO CLASSES
Every teacher holds one or two studio classes per year in which students perform for each other. Studio classes provide an opportunity for students to improve stage deportment, share musical insights, develop performance skills, and build friendships.
RECITALS
During the fourth term of the year students perform in a formal recital for parents and friends. This annual recital serves as a challenge and reward for diligent practice.
PLAY-INS Oct. 31, Jan. 23, May 29
Term I, II, and IV end with a relaxed and fun event where string group students, along with their teachers, make music together, Twinkle to Advanced repertoire. In Term III, the Play-In is replaced by String Fest.
SUZUKI BOOK GRADUATION RECITALS Dec. 5, April 17
Students who have completed requirements for various Book levels perform for family and friends.
CONCERTO/ARIA CONCERT Nov. 21
Teachers select advanced students to perform one movement of a concerto or opera aria for this special concert.
AUDITIONED HONORS CONCERT Feb. 20
Advanced students may audition before judges and receive written critiques of their performance. Four areas: Intonation, Notation and Rhythm, Memory, and Interpretation serve as criteria for assigning points to determine who will perform in the Honors Concert.
MASTER CLASSES
Throughout the year Master Classes conducted by Master Teachers from outside the School are held for specific instruments. While some students perform, other students and parents observe. Master classes offer an excellent opportunity for gaining new insight into the learning/performing process.
ANNUAL STRING FEST March 27
In March, near the end of Term III, all string students perform together in concert, creating an exciting sound and a memorable experience.
SPRING ENSEMBLE CONCERT June 5
In the spring, students perform in ensembles in a festive setting highlighting chamber music- including singers and performers on the different families of instruments.
